Cleaning Your Couch, Fabric by Fabric
Every job runs through the same 8-step process: inspection, pre-spray, spot treatment, deep extraction and a neutralizing rinse. What changes is how much moisture and pressure the fabric can take.
Velvet
The pile flattens and shows marks easily. We use a gentler, low-moisture approach and avoid hard scrubbing. Dark velvet can show water rings, so tell us if yours is a deep colour.
Microfiber
Hides daily dirt well but shows body oils and water rings over time. Deep extraction with a neutralizing rinse lifts embedded dirt. Text a photo of any rings or marks.
Linen & linen-look
A delicate weave that can shrink or stain if over-wetted. We check the tag first and clean with care, using a light touch on the surface.
Cotton & synthetic blends
Sturdier fabrics that take the full deep-extraction pass, which lifts embedded dirt, odors and allergens.
Tufted & buttoned
Dirt collects around buttons, seams and folds. We pre-treat those areas by hand before extraction.

What the Cleaning Codes Mean
Most couches have a tag under a cushion or on the frame with a cleaning code. It tells you what the manufacturer says the fabric can take.
- W: water-based cleaning is fine.
- S: solvent-based cleaning only, no water.
- WS: either water-based or solvent cleaning.
- X: vacuum or light brushing only, no wet cleaning.
A photo of the tag is enough. If your fabric is not suited to our method, we tell you before the appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do the cleaning codes W, S, WS and X mean?
W means water-based cleaning is fine, S means solvent only, WS means either, and X means vacuum only. A photo of the tag is enough for us to tell you what applies to your couch.
How long does a sofa take to dry?
Most upholstery dries in about 5 to 6 hours. Heavily soiled areas may take a bit longer. Optional express drying with air movers is available if you need it back sooner.
Can every fabric be deep-extraction cleaned?
No — the fabric determines the method. Sturdier fabrics like cotton and synthetic blends get the full deep-extraction pass; delicate materials such as velvet or silk-blend upholstery get a gentler, low-moisture treatment instead.
Is the process safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use non-toxic products made to be safe around kids and pets when used as directed, and finish with a live pH test to confirm the fabric has been rinsed and neutralized.
